முதல் தனியன் - First Invocation

திருச்சந்தப் பொழில் தழுவு தாரணியின் துயர் தீர
திருச்சந்த விருத்தம் செய் திருமழிசை பரன் வருமூர்
கருச்சந்தும் காரகிலும் கமழ்கோங்கு மணநாறும்
திருச்சந்தத்துடன் மருவு திருமழிசை வளம்பதியே
(திருக்கச்சி நம்பிகள்)

Transliteration:

thiruchchandhap pozhil thazhuvu thaaraNiyin thuyar theera
thiruchchandhaviruththam sey thirumazhisaip paran varumoor
karuchchandhum kaaragilum kamazhkOngum maNanaarum
thiruchchandaththudan maruvu thirumazhisai vaLampathiyE!

Translation:

Hail this town visited by the great saint
who gave us the melodious verses of Thiruchanda Virutham
to relive the sufferings of people on this earth (தாரணியின் துயர் தீர)

filled with the scent of great sandal forest (திருச் சந்தப் பொழில்).

In this fertile town of Thirumazhisai (திருமழிசை வளம்பதியே),
Great Sandal Trees (கருச்சந்தும்), Dark Eagle wood (காரகிலும்), and Kongu Trees (கமழ்கோங்கு)
spread their sweet fragrance where
Lakshmi – the goddess lovingly resides.
